MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE

Cauda Equina Syndrome

Cauda equina syndrome is a serious spinal condition which occurs when the group of nerves at the end of the spinal cord become compressed and damaged.

Symptoms include:
  • Severe lower back pain and pain in both legs
  • Weakness or numbness in both legs that is severe or getting worse
  • Numbness around or under your genitals, or around your anus
  • Loss of bowel or bladder control

Cauda equina syndrome is a surgical emergency because the longer it goes untreated, the greater the chance it will lead to permanent paralysis and incontinence.

If you believe you have suffered as a result of a delay in treatment of cauda equina syndrome, our experts here at Girlings Personal Injury Claims are here to help. Compensation can be claimed to help improve your quality of life by covering the cost of specialist accommodation (if required), care, aids and equipment.
