In our new feature where we get to know more about members of our team, we continue with Michelle Meakin, a partner in our medical negligence department.
Can you share something about you that people might not know?
I did a sky dive on my 21st birthday. An amazing experience, but not one I will be repeating again in a hurry now that I am a worrisome mother! Perhaps I will be one of those adventurous Grandmas who does a sky dive for her 80th birthday.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Walks in the countryside with my dog. Also, I started rowing at Deal Rowing Club towards the end of last summer. I absolutely loved it, but fell pregnant after just a few rows out on the open sea. With this rather surreal coronavirus situation we find ourselves in, I am not sure when I will be able to get out in a boat again. I am hopeful I won’t have forgotten everything I was taught!
What do you always carry with you to work?
A handbag full of rubbish and plenty of snacks!
How would your friends describe you?
I guess they would say I was funny, self deprecating and conscientious.
What is the thing you enjoy most about your job?
Obtaining compensation for people where I know it will make a real difference to their lives. For example, money to purchase aids and equipment which will make daily tasks easier or securing funds to help pay for vital care and therapy.
