Successful Claim for Compensation for Legionnaires’ Disease

Our client, Mr W, contracted Legionnaires’ disease after being sprayed by water from a tap at his place of work. His employers had failed to follow their own procedures which would have prevented this from happening.

His health deteriorated rapidly a week or two later and he was put on life support at the local hospital. Although the care provided by the hospital saved his life, he was left with very significant ongoing symptoms including breathing difficulties, fatigue and slurred speech. He was no longer able to work, and it was not anticipated that he would be able to return to paid employment in the future.

He was represented by our managing director, Jonathan Pidduck, and after negotiations the claim settled for a six figure sum.
