It has recently been reported on KentOnline that Medway Hospital is like “a war zone”. The hospital is currently operating on Operational Pressures Escalation Level 4 (or ‘OPEL 4’).
OPEL levels range from 1 to 4. OPEL 1 means a hospital is able to maintain patient flow and is able to meet anticipated demand. Whereas OPEL 4 means a hospital is unable to deliver comprehensive care and there is an increased potential for care and safety to be compromised.
Whilst Medway Hospital said the majority of patients in A&E were seen within 4 hours, there were reports from patients who waited much longer. One patient apparently waited more than 15 hours.
If you or a loved one has suffered as a result of inadequacies at the Medway Hospital, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our team of specialists.
