Kate Kennell

Partner

Kate is a partner who is part of the Clinical Negligence team at Girlings Personal Injury Claims.

She qualified as a lawyer in 1996, and specialised in Personal Injury and Industrial disease claims for many years, heading up and running successful branch offices in the North East of England as a Partner both for a niche law practice and a national law firm.

She won successful land mark limitation cases in McKay vs Hamlani and Direct Line CA 2008 and Sweet vs RNLI CD 2002.

She also headed up an Independent Enquiry into the management of mental health patients by the Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust.

In 2014, she exclusively began handling clinical negligence claims with a particular interest in women’s health matters including; breast cancer claims due to a delay in diagnosis and negligent breast reconstructive surgery, brain injury cases such as cerebral palsy claims arising out of labour and/or neonatal mismanagement, still births and substandard gynaecological surgery. She has participated on Radio Kent regarding breast cancer screening and mismanaged child birth.

She joined Girlings Personal Injury Claims in January 2020, bringing with her expertise in managing complex medical negligence claims as well as a reputation of being a highly efficient lawyer who is supportive and very responsive to her clients. She is a professional lawyer who treats her clients with dignity and respect.

She is also member of APIL (Association of Personal Injury Law) and is accredited with Senior Litigation Status.
